Floating dock De Poli has two cranes, one on each side of pontoons with a carrying capacity of 4.5t. Modernization of electrical equipment for manipulating cranes was in the overhaul plan for the floating dock.
Scope of our work:- Remove old equipment, which includes electrical cabinets, cables, cable trays, etc ...
- Remove electric motors and do an overhaul in our workshop
- Design new system with PLC and Siemens VFDs for manipulating cranes
- Installation of overhauled electric motors and new electrical equipment which includes cables, cable trays, cabinets
- Commissioning of new crane system
The new system is designed with three control points for manipulating the cranes:
- Local with wired pendant controller to cabinet
- Radio Controller
- Operator Cabin
The control location is selected on the switch on the cabinet.
The newly designed system includes Siemens PLC and siemens variable frequency drives for fine controlling of the motors.
A load cell is installed on the hook cable so the operator in operator cabin HMI can see the weight of the load. Also, there is protection if the weight of the load exceeds maximum crane capacity.
Anemometer is installed on the crane so the operator can see wind speeds on HMI.
